A nice idea, but the pacing was drawn out to the point of being boring, and I really wanted to read more about the magic.

It’s a little too tame and slow for me. I was reading it consistently and then stopped and it was hard to pick back up. When I finally did I was very bored. I’ll pick it back up some other time and finish because it really was a cute story.

This had so many fun cute fall elements and there’s no doubt I’ll read the rest of the series. The main  character Lucy’s middle name is Ruth after her grandmother, so is mine 🩷

Tis the season for WITCHFUL THINKING. It's the perfect summer-to-fall book. It gives summer vacation nostalgia and all the autumn cozies at once. And its hot. Steamy spicy slow burn goodness.

The chemistry and attraction between Lucy (a witch) and Alex (a merman) is the stuff of Soul Mates. They flirt like champions. I was blushing the entire time. The innuendos they work into every moment are hilarious. You can tell they're best friends with how fast their minds and mouths work.

Loved the seaside town of Freya Grove - a community that all walks of magical beings call home. The use of magic and wishes to instigate drama is done with perfection. And it cleverly punched up the natural comedy that is life.

Not my usual genre of book but I still enjoyed this one!

I would have liked for this to have more comedy as the synopsis seemed to lend it's self to more comedy leaning novel. Unfortunately, this was much more romantic and less funny. Romance is not my typical genre as I find them incredibly boring, but this one kept my interest. I think the overall magical plot made me want to keep reading and find out what was going to happen in the end.

I will be continuing the series to find out what happens to the next Caraway~

Witchful Thinking by Celestine Martin takes readers on a captivating journey into a world where magic and mystery intertwine. From the very first page, I was enchanted by the richly crafted universe that Martin has created.
Set in the enchanting town of Spellhaven, the story follows the adventures of Amelia Everwood, a young witch who discovers she possesses a unique power that could reshape her entire existence. As I delved deeper into the pages, I found myself fully immersed in the vibrant world-building that Martin effortlessly brings to life. The intricately described streets of Spellhaven and its bewitching inhabitants made me feel as if I was right there, experiencing the magic alongside Amelia.
Martin's writing style is both evocative and lyrical, painting vivid images with her words. Her ability to seamlessly blend action, emotion, and mystery is truly commendable. The pacing is perfectly balanced, keeping me engaged and eagerly turning the pages. The plot twists and turns kept me guessing, and the resolution was satisfyingly unexpected.
The characters in Witchful Thinking are a highlight of the book. Amelia Everwood is a relatable and strong-willed protagonist, and her personal growth throughout the story is a joy to witness. The supporting characters are equally well-developed, each with their own distinct personalities and motives. The relationships and dynamics between the characters added depth and authenticity to the narrative.
One aspect that stood out to me was Martin's meticulous attention to detail in integrating magic into everyday life. The spells, enchantments, and magical elements felt organic and seamlessly blended with the world of Spellhaven. It was a delight to explore the intricate magical systems and the rules that govern them.
While Witchful Thinking excels in many areas, I did find the romance subplot to be slightly underdeveloped. Although it added an additional layer of intrigue, I wished for more exploration and depth in this aspect of the story. However, this minor drawback did not diminish my overall enjoyment of the book.
In conclusion, Witchful Thinking is a mesmerizing debut novel that introduces readers to a captivating world filled with magic, mystery, and engaging characters. Celestine Martin's skillful storytelling and vivid prose create an immersive reading experience that will leave you yearning for more. If you are a fan of urban fantasy with a dash of romance, this book is a spellbinding choice.
