Seneca's writings are reminder of the importance of dignity in face of all circumstances.

"He who fears death will never do something to help the living."
"He lives badly who does not know how to die well."

Thought provoking, offering beautiful moments of contemplation over mortality. I picked this up halfway through law school, shortly after my friend committed suicide. The timing was good for me to read on this subject. I appreciate Seneca's willingness to allow his mind to be changed. I also found the endnotes to be well done and actually helpful (sometimes endnotes are completely useless or pointless). I also appreciate the fact that the Latin text was included at the end.

There are some solid ideas in this intermixed with some truly awful and bizarre takes that are frankly delusional when reality is taken into account.
