Ok. I have been a diligent follower of this series...and after book 8 my thoughts were "they better end this series soon...it doesn't seem to be going anywhere!". WELL...book 9 was AWESOME! One of the better books in the series! Filled with action, drama, sadness, and of course some wonderful teenage angst and humor. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to book 10. If book 10 is as good as 'Destined'...then the series "could" keep going...however, all good series need to conclude and I think P.C. + Kristen are lining it up for one hell of an ending!

I love this series so much!! The house of night series I started reading in summer 2022, after years and years of never picking up a book. And I can say with a certainty that this series is definitely what made me fall in love with reading all over again. I love the fantasy / supernatural themes in this book, but I also get Harry Potter vibes, not to do with wizards and magic, but because j k Rowling has a lot of subtext in her books that are in regards to good and evil, light and dark, and how those who are fighting for good are successful mainly due to their support system of loving friends and family and council around them. There’s definitely some good morals and lessons to be found in these pages

so...i can't say that destined was the worst book i've read...i can actually say that it was a really good book but all this stuff with Zoey's relationships...not one or two or three but four or five is starting to bother me and i don't know why...let's start from them beginning...first there is heath, the human guy who is obsessed with Zoey. Literally...but unfortunately he dies at the sixth book just to come back in destined in another form, he's part Aurox that guy Neferet created and i don't even know how...anyway heath something has to do with it because he made a deal with Nyx and at the end of the current book, heath appeared but he was in Aurox...then there is Erik...he Changes at the third book and he is the hottest and most talented guy in Tulsa's House of Night...he is a jerk...he breaks up with Zoey then he makes up and then, they break up AGAIN... seriously....how many times did they break up and the next thing we know they were back again???i didn't even bother to count their relationship split ups ....THE CONFUSION...now let's go to Lauren..seriously?But seriously?Erik is a puppy in front of him...he is THE JACKASS because he pretended to love Zoey but he was actually taking information someway and he was reporting back to Neferet...and when he has sex with her?GROSS...i wanted to be one with the book and strangle him but oops....someone killed him in the third book...how bad...next one...Kalona...okay he wasn't actually Zoey's boyfriend or something, but he tried to be more than that...better not write details...and then...her current boyfriend but not for so long because I think something is going to happen between her and Aurox...stark is THE GUY...he died to the fourth book where he first met Zoey and then he became an undead monster but then he Changed again to a full red vampire...but i think something is happening to him write now because i don't know...his moves aren't the ones you'd call romantic or gentle....I mean come one how can Zoey attract the whole male population and in such a small time...she was with all those guys, alright not exatcly but again, why, why, why??????i can't understand it yet...

The books in this series are getting a little repetitive. I enjoyed reading it while I was in it, but in hindsight, there are some things that bother me and overall I think it was a little boring and that didn’t justify the exciting ending.

The series has much improved since the first novel. The plot gives you more to think about. I am better able to connect to the characters.

Destined is the 9th house of night book. Once again Zoe and the nerd herd are fighting darkness. I gave Destined four stars. I enjoyed the book, but I feel that story just did not move forward. I feel like I know a lot more about a few of the characters which is great, but literally the story ended five days after the death of Zoe's mom.

I found the pop culture references amusing.(i.e. True Blood and the Game of Thrones) I enjoyed many thing about this book including background information on Tulsa. I loved the fact that Shaunee grew a brain and became her own person. Always Aphrodite is by far the funnest character in the house of night series.

Neferet ongoing relationship with darkness was a major theme in this book like it has been in the last few book. She is still up to her same crap and getting away with it. Although this element of the series is really interesting there was very little plot development. Moreover, the progress only came at the very end.

It has taken the last three book for the rest of the vampire world to catch on to the fact that Neferet is evil. Also I have another issue with the fact that there has been so many books that I have start to forget stuff. Not important stuff but still stuff about the books. I also enjoyed Shaunee's and Kalone's growth which I did not see coming at all. I also enjoyed Lenobia and her new cowboy. My two fave parts of Destined came at the end. Kalone takes Dragon's place, and the fact the Zoe saw Heath. They belong together, sorry to all you Stark people. Overall, I enjoyed the story. But I just want Neferet to get what is coming to her and for Nyx to take a stand against darkness.

If this book was not apart of a on going series I would have given Destined a 5. But because this book is apart of a series I cannot give Destined a 5 because there was very little plot development.
