I wasn't a fan of Bannin and his big mouth in Midsummer's Bride but his self-assureness in his persue of the reluctant heroine really worked for me. I love that we're exploring who got left behind because of the stone sickness.

It's OK, though since it's connected to some other books his personality felt underdeveloped. I expect those books have more of it, but I won't read them. The narrator had this annoying tone of voice that I can only describe as “breathless wonder”. It reminded me of how Giselle from the movie Enchanted spoke at the beginning.Sounded like she was reading a fairytale to a child. It was especially jarring when she was describing a monster dragging a human corpse around, and it made me picture her like a teenager or something, it sounded very childish, and made me feel like she had the mental age of a five year old.

Sweet and funny and hot! I love barbarian/warrior flavored fantasy romance. Listened to on Read Me Romance podcast.

I adored this novella. It was sweet, funny, and badass. I liked the characters and their backstories. I liked that they had to deal with some things from their past to become healthier people and to be together. I liked that they tried to take care of each other and themselves, even during difficult times.

The Deadlands world is a favorite of mine. I love the people, the magic, and the monsters.
