Take a Chance on Me by Delancey Stewart is wonderfully written second-chance love with amazingly realistic characters with believable issues. This book is the perfect read for the end of the summer evening.

Selena

Selena is our main character, and she tells the story. She and her sister Jenny are on the cruise ship Oceanic Aphrodite for two reasons. Selena is on business, and she brought her sister Jenny to help Jenny get over her broken heart. Selena’s company is going to partner with the Oceanic cruise lines in a resort on the Cayman Islands. This is Selena’s dream job. She wants to run a tropical resort so bad.

I like Selena and could see the two of us as friends. She is loyal, hardworking, dedicated, and loves dolphins. So what if she is claustrophobic and wants to hold a grudge? She works through it anyway, the grudge part that it is.

Lincoln

Lincoln is a hard worker and seems to enjoy his position on the Oceanic Aphrodite. However, he is also looking forward to the joint venture of the resort as he also wants to run it. As running a tropical resort is also his dream. Lincoln pulls out all of the stops to prove to Selena that he still loves her and that he has changed.

In the beginning, we all hate Lincoln for leaving Selena long ago with no explanation. Then when he gives her the reason, I was like, “Wow! Loser!” but after getting to know him better. I can see that he has grown and he really is a good guy.

Love Story

This story is darn cute. I adore it, but then I am a sucker for a good second chance at love. The history between these two is explosive in many ways, but they both seem to have grown, now can share their lives. I genuinely love a happy ending.

Seriously, the best scene is when they are swimming with the dolphins. That was amazing!

Take a chance on me is about two people who finally get together in the end after going through really rough years. But it's much more than that. It's about setting your dreams and goals, about how to deal with hardships and about how when things don't go as planned, you don't lose hope. It talks about new beginnings and the strength one should have to face them. Also, amidst all the pieces of your broken heart, you'll find several small pieces that continue to love and be loved.
The book was truly sweet and beautiful to read.
