A terrific Scottish police procedural drama involving corruption and gangsters. The most prominent gangster in Scotland is killed whilst trying discover his ancestors in what fast becomes a race against time to put an end to the revenge killings by the police and to be the victor of a blood fued by gangster families. Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. My only bug-bear was the extensive detailing made some parts repetitive and therefore could have been a shorter read. But the relatively short chapters kept the book exciting and enjoyable.

An excellent thriller that kept me reading till late in the night.
It's gripping, gritty and highly entertaining. A page turner full of twists and turns.
The characters are excellent, love Max and Janie, a couple of detective from different background but who share the same will to bring justice.
The author is a good storyteller and the plot flows and never drags
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

The first in a new series for me begins with DS Max Craigie investigating the disappearance of an elderly member of one of Scotland's biggest crime families. Shortly after finding his body, someone confesses to his murder but its about to reopen a centuries old family feud aided by police corruption.
I really enjoyed this with some great characters,  notably Max and fast-tracked partner Janie. It's very fast paced and as the story unfolds, the reader is never quite sure who from the police is trustworthy.
Highly recommended and a series I'll look forward to continuing.

A solid start for DS Max Craigie.

On the whole I enjoyed this book, the premise was good and the information that it held felt credible.

I felt that I didn’t gel as well with the main character as I would have liked to but I enjoyed the relationship between him and Janie.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for gifting me this arc in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
