Fuck.. I kept thinking the story could possibly get any crazier, but I get to the next chapter and holy shit.. It just gets wilder.

Ryat starts out as a completely apathetic asshole who is only after Blakely because she's is assigned as his chosen by the LORDs. Blakely however had no intentions of participating in the ritual, or becoming anyone's chosen, let alone Ryat's. Largely, because she is completely clueless to the existence of the entire ceremony.. That is until her bestie convinces her to go to the party at the House of LORDs.

Blakely's boyfriend, the man she has been arranged to marry, is part of the same secret society. She just so happens to bump into him at the party.. With another bitch on his arm. And he's taking the bitch as his chosen. The way this man irks every nerve in my body and makes me want to commit murder every time he opens his fucking mouth is demented.

Ryat on the other hand, is very matter of fact in his alpha behavior and his crazy displays of possessiveness over her. Essentially, he uses her as his own personal fuck toy just to piss of her ex. And she is enjoying every second of it. But when it becomes more than that his feelings for her come out in the most unhinged, but romantic way possible. And I'll be damned if he isn't now one of my favorite book boyfriends.

There is so much mystery surrounding why she is the assignment that Ryat was given, but damn.. When things all unfold, and the secrets are revealed, I thought I was going to DIE, bitch. All the twists and turns and ups and downs.. It's so wild and intense, I was on the edge of my seat the ENTIRE way through.

And the absolute SMUT in this book, omg, there is soooo much of it.. But I wouldn’t change a fucking thing. It's beautifully and deliciously intoxicating.

Now, if you need me I'll be making an appt with my therapist to discuss the visceral need to relive Blakely's POV and how much I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

better than expected

I don’t typically like college romance. The focus of this was more on what they were going through than college angst and was better than I thought it would be. Read it on a recommendation, and will read more of her books.

MF DARK Romance
Secret Society Debauchery
4.5 stars

Every now and again, I like a little dark romance and boy did this book deliver. I love secret societies in dark romance when it’s done right and this one was top notch. This book kept me guessing and the plot twists were insane. This even had one of my all time hated tropes appear later on in the story and it didn’t bother me because it made sense. Blakely was a kick ass heroine although a bit naive and I loved Ryat with his OTT, I’ll burn the world down for you mantra when it came to his woman. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for Blakely and I was here for it despite how toxic and possessive he could be.

I’m not going to say much more because I don’t want to ruin this for anyone but this is really dark and probably needs thousands of trigger warnings. My only trigger is non-con/forced consent and while there are some gray areas, Blakely’s pov was very clear about what she wanted and while there is some serious kink in this, it was all consensual even when at first I thought it wasn’t. I can’t say more without spoilers but thank you author for not using the phrase “my traitorous body” or any shit like that.

I’d give this 5 stars if some of the many sex scenes & about 100 pages were removed as it was just a tad too long for my attention span. But considering this is by the same author who wrote “The Undescribable” series, I’d say this author has come a long, long way because had I realized this was the same author, I would have never picked this up. Now, however, I’m curious to see what else she’s written.
