WOW. I will be checking out his other books. A crime thriller from a black sheriff’s perspective in the South…amazing writing and a really unique and captivating plot. I wish I could read this again for the first time already

Loved this book! I’m not a huge fiction reader so I asked some friends for a rec and so glad they sent this one my way. I was hooked after the first couple of chapters and really loved the cast of characters. Definitely a dark read, but so important given our current sociopolitical state.

DO NOT read this book before looking at the content warning. S.A. Crosby is an incredible writer- that’s not contested.
But you won’t sleep well after reading this book.

"All the Sinners Bleed" was even darker than I expected, and I am no thriller neophyte. This is some "Criminal Minds"-level villainy, so be prepared if you're about to dive in.

That said, I did find the mystery quite captivating and the characters—especially our protagonist Titus—engaging and well-drawn. This is of course a book about solving murders in a small town, but it is much more a book about deeply rooted racism and the way that it poisons generations. It's tough material to grapple with for a lot of reasons, but it's also worth the read for those reasons as well.

I read this on a recommendation from a friend and dove in without checking the trigger warnings first. YIKES.

So I was not prepared for the subject matter. It was also copaganda which isn’t up my alley.

That being said, the narrator was excellent. The plot was really solid, the subplots were also good. The main character’s romantic relationships (past and present) were my least favorite part I think.

This is a murder mystery/crime drama/serial killer story but it’s also about racism in the South, grief, family stuff, religious trauma, and more. I think the writer is talented and smart.
