An exploration of gender as experienced by an intersex person and their family. Hugely character driven, but enough of a plot to keep you wanting more. Don't expect this book to tie everything up in a neat little bow. Kathleen Winters leaves enough ambiguity that the reader must fill in the details on their own.

This book was astounding to me. The writing is beautiful, exploring inner worlds and the ways that these inner worlds grow into the reality that we can see, hear, and touch. It deals with the prevailing theme of gender diversity in a binary world in a very thoughtful, sensitive way that I deeply enjoyed. The characters are each real and sympathetic.
