This was my first Miss Marple book I've read. As Agatha Christie always does, I was intrigued and surprised by the twists in the plot. I thought I was certain of the guilt of one character that I overlooked the true enemy.

But, this is no surprise! Every detail is given for you to follow. I loved the way this was laid out. The only problem was that I got a bit confused at several points following the language and stories with certain characters. Other than that, this was truly a mystery!

"When you think of people, it is in the image you have made of them for yourself."

I always love a Miss Marple, but this one stuck out for me as being really genuinely entertaining. I was worried going in that I might not enjoy the Caribbean setting (only because it's hard to imagine a Marple story not set in an unhinged English village!), but it actually worked so, so well (and I of course loved that our girl Jane was in it from the beginning <3).

It was a brilliantly compelling read and, whilst I did manage to work out who the culprit was, it was still so intriguing seeing everything come together and there were still some great twists and turns. I absolutely adored a friendship that Miss Marple makes too. Just an all-round super enjoyable time, but with enough trademark underlying darkness!

In the past, I haven't been as taken with Miss Marple as with Poirot, but I quite enjoyed this one. The mystery was also very good - extremely twisty but wrapped up neatly by the end.

Not my favorite Marple book. I appreciate that we spend more time as a reader with Miss Marple and her thoughts (compared to other Marple books) but the rest of the characters didn’t really pull me in. Still had a pretty good twist that I didn’t see coming. Decent whodunnit book overall.
