Ready, set, action: forced proximity meets a sexy cinnamon roll and fiercely determined heroine in an Insta-attraction spicy contemporary.

Charlie and Valentina are complete opposites and somehow manage to rock that dynamic through the journey of actress and bodyguard. A quick and fun read that pairs spice with personal growth, this can be read as a stand-alone but is a part of a series. Yet another fun and spicy read to finish up the month.

Kissing Games
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre: Romance
Format: Kindle eBook
Date Published: 9/22/22
Author: Evie Alexander
Publisher: Emlin Press

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from Katie and Brey PA and Emlin Press and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

Synopsis: When actress Valentina arrives in Scotland to film Braveheart 2, she’s at breaking point. Driven by demons, she’s worked without a break since she was a teen and can’t stop now. Bodyguard Charlie’s lived too much. With looks and charm, he should have it all, but he’s broken. Estranged from his family, sacked from his job, and with nothing left to lose, he flies to the Highlands to help his best friend protect Kinloch castle from a crazy Hollywood film crew. He sweeps her into a world of skinny dipping, laughter and blinding passion. But as fun crosses the line into love, disaster bursts their bubble. Can they let go of the past and find a future together? Or is this just a Highland fling?

My Thoughts: I asked to be on the arc team of this book strictly on its cover and I am so glad that I did. This is book no. 3 in the Kinloch series. I have not read the whole series, only this one, and it was easy enough to follow through with. Broken Bodyguard + lonely actress + castle in Scotland = the perfect romance. I just adored this book. It was funny, sweet, endearing, steamy, very steamy, and spicy. With the trope of forced proximity, things get very hot between Valentina and Charles. The story is narrated by both Valentina and Charles, from their perspectives, in a dual POV. Personally, I prefer the dual POVs as you get both sides of the relationship. The characters were very well developed with depth, witty banter, chemistry, spiciness, and creatively done. The author’s writing style was complex, steamy, filled with sexual tension, intriguing, and kept me engaged the whole book. The paperback is already out and the ebook releases later this week. I would definitely recommend if you like a steamy funny romance.

I received this as an arc from the author and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.

This was a good romantic comedy. I really enjoyed the return to Kinloch, this time the focus was very much different from the first two stories but it worked well. Charlie and Valentina had a strong connection and I enjoyed the development of their relationship. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Kissing Games was a roller coaster almost from page one. I love a good romance between two lost souls that find each other and themselves at the same time.

Charlie stole my heart the moment he started punning. I'm such a sucker for lame jokes that I immediately found him endearing. Valentina is an amazing FMC, with plenty of sass and brilliance to match Charlie's.

I do admit, Valentina's family kinda stole the show. Abuela and Abuelita were my absolute favorites. Isabella made me laugh and also warmed my heart. Definitely pick up this book ASAP, you won't regret it!

Simply put, I never read a series in order. So in keeping with tradition, this is the first book I have read in the Kinloch Series. I get the impression I don’t need to read in order to enjoy the stories.

In this love story, there’s Charlie who is basically a tattooed adonis who has women falling at his feet. But it in his line of work, it is a job hazard as his clients wives and daughters throw themselves at him and then he gets fired.

As a body guard, he lands the job as security for a movie featuring a superstar named Valentina. Needless to say neither was looking for love, but they find it with each other. Charlie gets bonus points as he is basically the dog whisperer with his canine companion.

I’d take a job on this movie set as they are filming at a castle in the Scottish Highlands. Kissing Games is a quick, fun romance. Thank you Kate Rock Booktours & the author for the e-book.

She might have made it to Hollywood, but he’s about to show her what she’s missed…

When actress Valentina arrives in Scotland to film Braveheart 2, she’s at breaking point. Driven by demons, she’s worked without a break since she was a teen and can’t stop now. Everyone she loves depends on her. But something’s missing. Despite all the glitter and glamor, she’s never really lived.

But falling hard for a movie star isn't in his contract.

My Opinion

This is the third book in the series and I am still drawn in by the opening chapters. We are introduced to new characters in this book so I feel that it would work well as a stand-alone although I am recommending that you read the series from the beginning. Complete with humour and steamy scenes, this is a wonderfully entertaining story.

I have read all three books in the Kinloch series and I have really enjoyed them all. I just can't wait to see what she does next with the series.

I love this series of books. They are fun, a bit raunchy, full of heart, and DOGS.
I had read the previous two books, and was surprised that the third would be set at the same time as the second book. It made reading it more interesting to see some of the same events of the second book but from a different perspective. Similarly, I would think back to the second book and some of the foreshadowing of the third book in it. It was well plotted out, I think, by the author, and then knowing there is a fourth book coming that may also be set in the same or overlapping timeline? Well done, I say!

I really liked the characters of Charlie and Valentina. They felt like whole people in that they are smart, kind, generous, grumpy, insecure, sad, etc. They felt their feelings and they weren't perfect people, which is what made them feel believable to me. I liked how they challenged each other, but also ended up being each other's best support, helping each other to grow. The backdrop against which their relationship is set - film set at a castle in Scotland for possibly the most ridiculous movie to ever be (fictionally) made - was so much fun.

I loved the abuelas - I want a book with them as the main characters! I love delightful side characters and the abuelas definitely brought it. I think it was a smart move to introduce some other side characters than those we had met in the previous two books, instead of keeping it to an insular group of people.

I'm also a sucker for animals in books, so to have Bandit featuring so prominently, then also a happy ending for Dave, was just a delight.

I hope we get to see more of these characters in future books - perhaps at the movie premiere???

I received an eARC for free from BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The story
Charlie is a former soldier who’s now retired and doing protection work in London. When he is fired from a client at the same time his best friend Rory, Earl of Kinloch, invites him to come help while a film crew are using the castle, he doesn’t hesitate. On the flight to Scotland, he meets Valentina who he suspects is a penniless student. But the Colombian actress is world famous but lonely, and when they both land up at the castle, the sparks fly, and fly, and fly….

My thoughts
Evie Alexander’s Kinloch series is such an entertaining read. While I was reading I realised that books 2 and 3 are in fact taking place at the same time, but Charlie and Valentina’s perspectives are so totally different from Zoe and Rory’s that they are two completely different stories. I loved the honesty that Charlie and Valentina have between them, and the yearning that they both have to love and be loved in the most genuine way. Their love of dogs is adorable. The steam in this book is detailed so intricately, it sizzles right of the page. Well done Evie Alexander, the writing just gets better and better ❤️
