This book was provided to me as an uncorrected digital copy by the publisher via Edelweiss.
Beth and Kellen are best friends, though Kellen would like for them to be more. He has decided that Halloween is the perfect time to finally ask Beth on a date. Unfortunately, Kellen may have waited too late, because The House of Horrors is in town, and Dr. Hysteria has brought his Cabinet of Souls along.
The Cabinet of Souls is pretty typical juvenile horror fare. Some of the dialog feels pretty contrived and cheesy, but it’s not so bad that young readers will be put off. As a matter of fact, this book will probably go over well with horror fans between the ages of 8 and 12, and will definitely be a hit with kiddos who already enjoy the Goosebumps series. There is no gore or anything close to profanity, just a few good scares.
