Difficult, endearing, frustrating, uncomfortable, triumphant, horrifying, at times I just wanted to get as far from the narrative as possible. Replicated so precisely the feelings of being a teenage girl grappling mortally with drugs, sexuality, and independence. Not the most positive racial portrait of San Francisco. Content warnings numerous and varied.
