The town inside this book feels so real and lived-in. I also come from a small tourist-driven town and so many of the questions about tourism raised in this book are questions that I strongly related to regarding my own community. How do we share the magic of this place with outsiders without letting them change it into something else entirely? It’s a good thing that the tea shop “tended to vanish” or it probably would’ve been turned into short term rental apartments by now.

Just okay.  I missed part of the audiobook and did not feel like rewinding.  I also find my mind wandering when listening. That is always a sign to dnf.

Very pretty how her struggles became more. I love Aldermere. I want to move there be friends with Fin and work with Talia in her tea shop healing people.

"Monsters are only monstrous until you befriend them."

I want to go back to Aldermere soon.

This would’ve been a fantastic book if it had been 100 pages shorter. There is just too much extra stuff happening, and the story moves very slowly. For a book geared toward 9 to 12-year-olds, it’s simply too long with too much extra stuff.

This was a great middle grade read about a magical town and a girl who just wants to blend in.
