This was... epic! I cannot recommend the audiobook enough. It was an amazing performance and there was just so much about this book that I enjoyed. I'll probably read the next book physically.

Random narrator half way through threw me off. Romance was irritating. Female narrator got on my nerves

An interestingly different type of book. A sci-fi story, told through files-surveillance dictations, emails, reports and IMS, of hacker-babe Kady and her new found ex, Ezra, escaping an attack on their world. Once fleeted, new problems arise. A deadly plague, a rogue AI system, and an enemy destroyer ship trailing behind, can Kady save her people from ultimate destruction?

I enjoyed this book. I found the story to be interesting and exciting! I was especially intrigued by the different form of writing. To me, this book was fast paced and exciting with an ending I didn't see coming at all.

I liked the concept. The beginning was really confusing as far as world building. It talked about so many different things at one time that you kinda lost track of what was the main focal point we were dealing with. After about 200 pages, then it gets interesting! But it's still hard to get the military lingo down so I was still lost until it was point into basic terms 10 pages later. So yeah, it was fun reading the cool format though! I liked that part a lot!

One of the best sci fi books I've read in a long time. Teen fan fict to boot. The format of this book was interesting, with the story told through artifacts. This was riveting, and I finished it in 2 days. Can't wait to read the second. :-)

It took me a while to get used to this book and the way that the story was told, but once I did, it was fantastic! The storytelling through documents and digital conversations was so unique and interesting. I especially loved the parts of the story told through AIDAN's (the AI program) "memory". It was intriguing, though-provoking, and a bit haunting.

I don't normally enjoy sci-fi books very much, but Illuminae not only had an excellent plot, but also well-developed characters. This surprised me since I didn't expect to get very attached to the characters due to the way the story is told. Oh man, was I wrong. I was more engrossed in these characters' stories than I have been in several other books. I'm not sure what it was about the writing that made the characters so compelling, but I found myself on the edge of my seat, hoping that nothing happened to any of them.

The one downside to this book was that it's a bit gruesome at times. There was one particular description, around the middle of the story, of a mass murder that was pretty disturbing. Though this was undoubtedly the intention of the authors, it was hard to read at times. I guess, in some ways, that's a good thing, because it accurately portrayed the tragedy of the situation rather than just glossing over the deaths.

Overall, this book was unique and fantastic, if a bit gruesome at times. I would definitely recommend it!
