I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the story and the writing. I only wish there had been more lead up to the end. I will say what caught my eye first was the beautiful cover though.

WOW….JUST WOW!!!

This book is FREAKING AMAZING!!! The writing is FANTASTIC!! The descriptions of the Louisiana Bayou are so atmospheric. I felt like I was there walking through mud, houses on stilts, boardwalks over the bayou and the Mississippi River. The characters are so complex and the concept of the summer children, all with some sort of magic, is so original. The murders, old and new, and the mysteries that surrounded them and who was involved. The mystery had me all over the place, and in the end I was SHOCKED…to say the least!!

YOU WILL LOVE THIS if you enjoy Magic, like empath, psychic, etc. If you enjoy YA Dark Fantasy, Romance, Mysteries and Suspense!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!

the meat of the book was a snoozefest. unfortunate because the synopsis was banger. new orleans?! psychics?! missing girl?! hell yeah! in actuality, nothing happened for 400 pages and the last 20 made me want to throw my phone across a room and voluntarily take a yoga class to get myself to calm down because that ending was... something (derogatory)

In a town full of psychics, a girl shouldn't go missing. Grey is back at her hometown of La Cachette, LA for the summer and her best friend, Elora, is missing and assumed dead. The people of the town are all reeling, but it seems like everyone is dodging Grey's questions and keeping their own secrets. Grey keeps getting flashes of Elora's memories. Memories of being chased down. A dark figure with blazing blue eyes seems to be following her as well.

This is a paranormal, coming of age story. Old and new love, mystery, horror. Very twisty, and I didn't suspect whodunnit. Very CW tv vibes. Reminded me of books written by Sarah Dessen and also Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young.

I had a kind of nostalgic feeling reading this. A lot like the contemporary and paranormal books I read as a teen. I enjoyed it a lot.

It's almost like the author got so caught up in beautiful descriptions of the bayou and the magic within that she forgot to include a plot.

First young adult book I’ve read… since I was a young adult LOL
Won’t be picking up another that’s for sure. So my review might be a little unfair.

So much teenage immaturity, vulnerability, and angst. To be fair, very much expected. The plot is what interested me, a town full of psychics, and a mystery. However, the whole story line was so drawn, and many times repetitive. The main mystery of what happened to Elora I figured out very early in the book, but there were so many other unsolved mysteries in the book which kept me interested and I was surprised by a few.

The author is a master of setting the scene. Her descriptions of the atmosphere make it incredibly easy to imagine and feel like you’re right there with Grey in La Cachette. Definitely magical in that sense.

Interested to see what the author puts out in the future.

Coming from your south Louisiana girl, this book was on fleek! I loved it so much and it did ring true of what it can be like living down here. Cajuns are known to be spiritually gifted. This is about a fictitious town where they hail from all the way down the boot. Loved all the Cajun references made! Do not miss this book!
