The subject of this book is utterly compelling, but unfortunately the writing detracts from the experience. The excessive paragraph breaks and unnecessary dramatization undermine the seriousness of the subject matter. Furthermore, I wish more time had been spent discussing the many failures of law enforcement in this case. It truly is a tragedy that it lasted so long— lives could have been saved.

Wow. I’ve never read a true crime book before and this was diving into the deep end. The author tells this horrific account with great compassion for the sisters and other victims. I would recommend this story to true crime lovers, criminal psychology enthusiasts, and people who believe in the power of sisterhood.
