I wish I DNF'd this... I was in the mood for a fantasy but this doesn't really read like a fantasy, it reads more old timey historical romance genre. I kept putting it down and scrolling social media which never happens with a good book. Ugh I wish I DNF'd it and didn't waste my time but someone recommended it to me. It's just super basic and the characters were very meh in my opinion. To each their own I suppose, but I won't be reading any more of this series.

Wow! This book is so good!

I love the romance in it. It was interesting and different and the twists I did not see coming!

This will need a reread in the future. Something happens that I want to see the foreshadowing and hints about. I'll probably reread it before I read the second book, but if not then probably next year.

This book has an interesting plot at the beginning of the book. I liked the fact that there was a matchmaker and there were soliders. But I lost interest in it for now and I'm trying not to make myself read books like that anymore. I might return to it sometime in the future though for now it will be on the DNF shelf.

DNF @43 percent.

“People needed love most when they weren’t at their best.”

* It’s giving Mulan going to the matchmaker vibe
* Okay, I love the matchmaker

I have never, NEVER wanted to reread a book the second I finished it, but it was that good. Fans of Tamora Pierce will not be disappointed. I can't wait to read more by Beaty. Truly satisfying.

Book 1 in the Traitors Trilogy and it was just so good! I devoured this in less than a day. This was fast paced and at times hard to follow certain things. I definitely had multiple moments where I needed to go back to find certain things because I was like HUH?! But even so, the characters and plot had me enraptured and I just loved it! There is a bit of a twist that I was so not expecting that made this all the more interesting.
This doesn’t end in a cliffhanger and we get a happy ending so like what more can you ask for??
All in all I really enjoyed this book and I will absolutely be continuing on in this series!

confusing nonsensical storyline with a love story that flatlines before it even comes to life
