In Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating, I loved Josh and Hazel’s progression from acquaintances to friends to lovers. I loved how Josh just accepted Hazel for the person she is, quirks and all. I loved that Hazel isn’t embarrassed about herself. She’s okay with who she is, and she should be. I wish I was as accepting of my “weirdness” as Hazel is. I really didn’t like her ex-boyfriend. The way he treated her made my blood boil but maybe that is because it was too close to home for me. One of the dinner scenes really cracked me up. The way Hazel just couldn’t help but immediately blurt out what her and Josh had just agreed they wouldn’t be talking about made me giggle. I teared up at the end, but they were happy tears! Recommended

This would have a slightly higher rating if it hadn’t had so much sexual content in it.
This probably isn’t a book for someone who wants a really rational story with incredibly realistic characters. Hazel was a lot of fun, but she might have been a little bit exaggerated for the sake of the story (exaggerated? Is that the right word?). Thankfully, I don’t mind that at all and I just had a good time—When I wasn’t flipping through sex scenes trying to shield my eyes, that is.

Well, this was absolutely delightful and lovely. I’m not usually enamoured with the “quirky girl” trope, but this toed the line well and I really enjoyed Hazel and her ‘Hazel-ness’. I also found this was one of the better friends-to-lovers tropes I’ve read. The relationship that develops between Josh & Hazel seems so genuine and their opposite personalities meshed into great chemistry. And the epilogue?? One of my favourites ♥️

ok i know some people have problems with hazel, but i find her to be one of the most lovable and genuine characters i have ever read. yes, she is crazy and quirky and fun, but it’s done in a way that makes her feel so real rather than manic pixie dream girl. josh im… i just… want to know where men like this actually are so i can go find them and date them, he is the sweetest book boyfriend ever! the main reason i’m not giving this 4 stars is bc there is a twist that was both extremely predictable and also lead to one of my least favorite tropes in a book. that being said, it was still a cute book with a happy ending, just felt a little bit rushed.

devoured this in a day! i love christina lauren and will read anything they publish. wasn’t the most life changing book, but was a super cute & lighthearted read and i loved it sm. hazel is who i aspire to be and i loved her hippie-like nature she’s adorable. josh and her banter and friendship/relationship was so fun and cute to read. also, liked emily as a side character. also extra points for inclusivity and diversity, loved seeing bits of korean culture incorporated :)
