I didn't know what to expect going into this because even though I had often heard of Dracula, I had never actually heard anything about the plot of the novel. And I will say I was pleasantly surprised. I always have a bit of trepidation going into classics, worrying that it will be hard to read or I won't be able to grasp the themes. But Dracula was a really easy read. The language was very accessible to the point where it almost felt like I was reading a modern book. I also really loved the way the book discussed colonialism and the fear of reverse colonialism.
That said, towards the end the book got boring. It felt like it kept coming up to a scene where there would be action, and then, oh no, actually we can't do anything exciting right now and we have to wait again. Due to this the ending felt pretty lackluster and anti-climatic to me. The characters didn't feel very fleshed out either; the men especially felt like you could have replaced any one of them with another and you wouldn't have noticed. I do rate books off of personal enjoyment, so these small complaints are why it's not getting a higher rating even though I do think it's a pretty solid classic.

Dracula section was great, but writing isn’t very gripping and Mina and Lucy section was a complete slog and killed all pace and suspense
