The Sirens of Titan is a science fiction, one of Kurt Vonnegut's earliest works. I found it quite funny and had me thinking a lot about what types of people and phiosophies each character embodied. But overall, I thought it was one of Vonnegut's weakest works as its told without too many wry details I know him for. I don't think his style has completely matured in this one, and it suffers a bit in 2-dimensionality as it tries to embody in its characters representations of different life outlooks in the face of a meaningless universe.

I loved Slaughterhouse Five, and I was enjoying Sirens of Titan too…
Such a shame, because this was otherwise a nice, short book that tackles the futility of human life done via sci-fi. Some bits at the beginning were pretty funny too. The part on Mars and Mercury were a bit tedious and not as interesting. The ending was a mixed bag.
Moderate: Racism and Violence
Minor: Rape

Overall a classic Vonnegut romp through space that seems meaningless until it's not, and then meaningless again.

Not Vonnegut’s most consistent book, but such a strong start. And a definite entry into the canon of funny books with poignant and sad endings.
