While well written, the story didn't engage me enough to hold my interest. I read another partial review here that said there is some kind of hook in the book, but I never got that far. Something tells me it wouldn't have been worth the time.

The reviews I read before I started this book made it sound like a fun, mind bender to listen while I was road tripping. Not so much...there was really only one way the characters could have been intertwined. It seemed like lots of unnecessary forced plot development.

I really wanted to see that jerk Hayden get it in the end, and I know it was implied when the Russian Mob was standing outside his hotel room door, but I wanted to see it, to make sure he died.

I enjoyed this one more at some times than others. Overall a satisfying weave of 3 narratives, although I thought they all could have tied together a little more smoothly.

I liked the fractured pieces of identity that slowly came to overlap. Aspects of it reminded me of Gao Xingjian’s Soul Mountain, and at several points, I expected a similar reveal that some or all of the characters were all on the same journey together.

This is a rare book that I listened to, rather than read. I’m confident I would have gotten more from it if I hadn’t also been driving I-80 from Utah to Nebraska.

And a nit-pick: Glock does not make, and has never made, a revolver. Of all the brand names to have chosen, he chooses the one that is at the center of the development of the semi-automatic pistol to refer to as a revolver!

Recommended by Andy. Entertaining and disturbing. My e-book edition has an interview with the author at the end where he states that he didn't really plan the relationships in this book, they just developed. I find this disturbing as well - but I'm not sure why.
