Gripping.......compelling......sad......wonderful........a page turner.......
I swept back in time to London during the Blitz. I could feel Emmy's angst page after page after page. I could NOT put the book down --- I NEEDED to know.....about her dad, her sister, her mom......everyone and everything!! The end did NOT disappoint.... Who hasn't made a choice that later we feel it has irrevocably changed our life and think about 'going back' and changing our choice? (purposely being vague so as not to have spoilers)

Great story about 2 sisters who never forgot about each other. Very heartbreaking at times.

I enjoyed this story about choices. How much we can grieve for the choices we wish we had made or for the ones we did. The book draws you in almost immediately and the story unfolds in a timely manner. If you are a fan of World War II fiction, I'd say it was worth adding to your list.

I really enjoyed this one, but about 88% through, I started to think the author was just messing with her readers. The near misses / missed opportunities almost drove me crazy. It almost caused me to drop a star from my review.

It started a little slow for me, and it took me a while to get into the book. but when I did the story was interesting and I wanted to know more.
But I can't say that it the best WW2 book I read.

I loved the weaving of this tale. Susan Meissner is the master of weaving. Not everyone can accomplish this so well. I don't think I'll ever get tired of learning about the survivors of WWII. It amazes me how strong so many humans are when facing the worst of the worst.

It was ok--reminded me of Orphan Train, in a different time period. I guess I don't care for the premise of a young person interviewing an older person with a secret. I don't get it.
Oh well--
