I enjoyed this book. There's nothing amazing about it, but it was a fun ride. I like the mental health aspect with the MC. Kacy is experiencing some anxiety/PTSD from an experience in her past, and I liked the way that was represented in her thoughts about herself, and her experience trying to make new friends. It affected her actions, but wasn't over the top to make her seem "crazy." There are a few things that seemed a little medication-shame-y to me, but it wasn't too bad. I also really like the podcast transcripts that comment on the story throughout the book. That added an interesting layer

The story got a little boring for me after the killer was revealed. It's happens in the middle of the book, and the mystery aspect pretty much ends there except for a few small things that were pretty easy to figure out. The killer's identity is also pretty obvious from the beginning. They're really the only characters who have anything off about them. I was hoping there would be more going on there because, of the whole "people are not what the seem" setup in the beginning, but no, most of the characters are exactly what they seem.

A few nit-picky things:
  • It's a little weird that the muslim character has a dog. Muslims don't normally keep dogs as pets. I mean, I know that not every person follows every religious rule, but it's a pretty common practice. I'm not sure why the author didn't just give the character a cat.
  • The terrible ex-bestie is an actual cartoon character. Like I'm surprised she wasn't maniacally laughing while twirling her mustache when we met her. It's an odd choice because the story treats Kacy's inability to move on from this person as an aspect of her trauma, but then she's introduced and her entire personality is 'manipulative mega-bitch.' Sort of invalidates the idea that this is Kacey's problem to work though.
  • The  prologue mentioned Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood, and the MC's last name is Tremaine (like the stepmother in Cinderella) so I thought there would be fairy tale vibes or references in this book, but there wasn't. Not a big deal, but I felt like it teased something for no reason.
