I can understand why Nettel is admired by literary critics. These stories are full of self-consciously "literary" writing. They are dark and disturbing. They feel "important". But of the six stories in the collection, three did not work for me at all. I have her novel After the Winter on the shelf. Hopefully I will connect better with that.

Este año descubrí a Guadalupe Nettel y me he vuelto adicto a su prosa. Sin embargo, las dos últimas antologías que leí de la autora me han dejado con un sentimiento de vacío, con unas enormes ganas de más pero a su vez con un sabor de boca gris, rozando la indiferencia.
