I found this to be a very interesting collection, quite a wide range of styles here. I am amazed by just how many talented poets there are in Marquette, it must be an inspirational place to live.

My usual taste in poems tends to be full of dark material, lots of violence, sex and humour, so reading this made me feel all grown up. The title is "Maiden Voyage" and you'd expect them to be about travelling, turns out it is more about the home, reading this makes you long for those home comforts and your family. In "The Silent Language of a Working Marriage" by Claudia Drosen I got that warm fuzzy feeling of time spent with my wife, being comfortable in each others silence. Also "Supposing the House Is on Fire" by Milton J. Bates which is a discussion about what would you save if the house was on fire, it always ends up being the family photos.

Here are some of my favourite parts:

Peregrination by Lynn Domina, a clever poem about all the different ways of saying "Walkies" without sending your dog mad.

Approximate Circumference of the Great Lakes by Kathleen M. Heideman. using ASCII to show the waves from a stone hitting water was a nice touch.

Lambs by 11yr old Akira Koenig where she asks the question Why would somebody think of adding a b to the end of lamb was brilliant.

Leaving by Gala Malherbe is very moving, about all the objects, smells and sounds that remind you or a loved one who has passed.

Finally my favourite in the whole book was Schrodinger's Cat by Richard J. Bastall with a new take on Schrodinger's cat, is it dead or alive? What if the cat had escaped out the back of the box while the discussion was going on, the last line had me laughing out loud. I would post the poem here but you should buy this book instead, it is well worth it.
