Yndisleg bók fyrir alla Downton Abbey aðdáendur sem og áhugafólk um tímabilið sem þættirnir gerast á. Skemmtilegar mataruppskriftir skemma heldur ekki fyrir. / A delightful book for all Downton Abbey fans and period enthusiasts. Interesting recipes do not hurt either.

I chose to read this "Year in the Life" book throughout my own year, beginning with the January chapter in January and ending with December in December. It's a quick and simple read with a lot of pictures from the television show with a few candid's sprinkled in. A nice and fluffy companion piece to my own love of the world of Downton.

Interesting information, delicious recipes, and beautiful images. Still, it felt like the book was sewn together from a hundred different pieces that didn't quite fit together. I also started to dislike the way the author told us that everything about Downton is perfect and every crew member a fantastic talent. That's probably true but to repeat it time after time gets tiresome. Downton doesn't need that. It can stand alone and people will still see its perfection.

It's awesome. There's so much background information and insight to the various characters. You really learn to appreciate the series so much more, knowing how much work went into it. And you also learn so much more about the time the series takes place and the life of an aristocratic family. If you want to learn more, it's the book for you!
Jessica Fellowes writing is excellent. She captures Downton in her texts beautifully.
I'm very much looking forward to trying out some of the recipes especially the Parmesan sticks

4/5 Stars.
The photography and history tidbits throughout this novel are splendid! I'd recommend it to any fans of Downton Abbey who are looking for a light read. For readers who are more savvy in the kitchen than I am, each chapter ends with recipes for the time period.
