Extremely educational, but definitely agree w some of the other reviews about how it can be a bit dry to keep up with and how it focuses quite a bit on white bodies (which comes from explaining how the controlling of white women's bodies came from from the fear/degredation of black women's bodies, but still nonetheless focuses on white women the most)

There is so much I could say about this invaluable book, but to me the most important thing is it made me, a white woman, realize that my understanding of feminism, as well as racism, was totally incomplete without this history of the construction of anti-fatness.

Fantastic historical account on how we came to designate thin (white) bodies to be “good”

only downside is that it reads like a textbook, but it's so informative and a necessary read for everyone!

Some very interesting info here that makes a strong case for fatphobia being rooted in racism, but it wasn’t written in a way I found particularly compelling. I wanted more analysis, more narrative, or a little more of both.
