Crime drama of the Bendis ouvre. Ties in with "Goldfish" if you've read that one. As usual, the dialogue is the best bit, though this one is a little weak in my opinion. This earlier stuff reads like Bendis idolizes Tarantino, perhaps, whereas later stuff has more of his own voice.

I've only occasionally enjoyed the work of Bendis, so I was pleased to see that one of his earlier works had finally been collected again in a new volume.
It's just really disappointing. It's not bad, per se, but the art is bad, the line work is bad, the design is lacking, and it's visually incoherent quite often. The story itself is a somewhat trite modern approximation of noir--which is why I wanted to read it in the first place--but it falls short of even the most mediocre work from the 40s.

You know it's good when you DNF after the intro and like five pages. This is just very much not a story I have any interest in, and given the language used in the intro alone, it probably hasn't aged well, either.

Good so far, but a bit dated. Tons of words spelled incorrectly, a lot of your/you're mistakes. Good, but not great. I"m feeling a bit underwhelmed- expectations too high?

I wasn't impressed, characters were despicable and the story was a disjointed rambling mess. I also didn't like the art choices. Definitely not a book for me.

Not bad for a Sin City-like story with the plot from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Nice modern take. I was only partly confused in some of the panels where the detail was needed. Other than that, I read Powers and love Bendis' dialogue use. Very similar to real speech. Nice one.

Jinx feels a little dated but also gives the reader a window into the writer Bendis would become. Alias and Scarlett are right there in Jinx and that was interesting to experience.
