A searing, emotional, experimental book written from the perspectives of a series of men who were all assaulted by the same woman. I've read other books about the fallout of sexual assault and how society responds to it but this book shines a light on how much this anti-victim mentality intersects with toxic masculinity, creating an awful place for men who have suffered at the hands of women. I just feel all icky after reading this but would still recommend it to other people.

Uncomfortable read, but eye-opening. There is a lot of sensitive material in this book, so definitely be in the right mental headspace before reading this. The marriage of social commentary and mixed media viewpoints is done really well. What stuck out the most to me was the writing style. It’s so beautifully written. Also, the audiobook paired with reading the physical book is an even more immersive experience (highly recommend doing it this way). Looking forward to explore more of Amber Tamblyn’s work. (Fun fact: Amber Tamblyn is an actress! She’s been in The Ring, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and other pretty big named stuff. It’s always cool to see creatives shine in different mediums.)

I reeeeally loved the voice and style of this book. I came into it fully expecting an everyday novel style but was quickly surprised and sucked into the flow of poetic vision among such a hard topic. So well done, I could not put this book down. Every character had such a unique experience, reaction, and coping mechanism to what they experienced. Just wow. So well done, I can't believe I didn't read this sooner.

This book is phenomenal. The writing is flawless, and Tamblyn does an incredible job of ensuring each character has their own unique voice. The subject matter of this book is extremely dark and challenging, but Tamblyn handles it with tact and nothing ever feels like it's being disclosed for shock value. I appreciated the way she examines rape culture, society's fascination with glamourizing tragedy and trauma, and the commentary on victim blaming. The format with the newspaper articles, tweets, and interviews also added to the reading experience. Fantastic book, though one I wouldn't recommend without first suggesting to check content warnings.
