So beautiful, just a story about two human beings falling in love. But also so much more than that, intimacy and total joy with one another.
This love is something I've never read before and will be something I will think about a lot in any relationships I have in the future.

Apparently I’m a little late to finding out about/ reading this book. I went in completely blind and was shocked, to say the least. The story was beautifully written with sophisticated & elegant language which perfectly encapsulated the time period and setting of the novel. It is detailed, graphic, and provides beautiful imagery in all the right places.

First I hated how the book is written. But then I loved the book because of how it’s written. It’s hard to explain but I really enjoyed it even though is not what I regularly read. Although I have to say I probably wouldn’t have understood much if I hadn’t watched the movie first. The ending in quite different and I liked that as well. Overall great book and cannot wait to read the sequel. Off to watch the movie again.

I mean solid 3 it’s fine! Don’t listen to audiobook because Armie is a creep and makes the story even more uncomfortable.

The first two chapters of this book were mediocre to me. I thought it was a bit creepy and unnatural how they got together, and also incredibly slow.
During the third chapter, the one about San Clemente, this relationship became so real and believable to me, and I absolutely adore the metaphor of the basilica to represent the impact that this time had on the lives of Elio and Oliver. Plus, the way that their future meetings - first in the US and then in Italy again - were handled was absolutely gorgeous. From “Cor cordium, heart of hearts, I’ve never said anything truer in my life to anyone” (pg 242) until the end of the novel I was crying. Especially when Elio was describing the imagery of house as Oliver’s ghost spot. There are so many other bittersweet, nostalgic and emotional moments that make this last chapter hit incredibly hard, and ultimately redeem this book for me.
