Great summer read, the writing was at sometimes too explicit…I normally don’t have a problem with sexual content in anyway but I had the feeling that the author just needed to write those scenes…it didn’t feel genuine to me.
Elios and Olivers relationship is very complicated but I think that the age gap (7 years) isn’t as bad as it is written. Elio is 17 and Oliver 23 but in Europe the age of consent is 16, so personally I don’t feel like it’s that big of a deal (in no way am I romanticizing adult/minor relationships but it’s kind of normal where I life) . Moving on in the end it didn’t make sense to me as to why Oliver did the things he did because it just didn’t fit in with his whole character arc. I’ll definitely read the sequel next month!
P.S. I can’t eat peaches anymore without feeling slightly sick 🥲

I cannot stand when white authors casually use slurs like “g*psy” in their works without a second thought. Judging by reviews, it’s a disgusting book anyway.
Moderate: Racial slurs and Xenophobia
