This was a lovely read, it seemed simple and easy at first but by the end, it was anything but simple. It took place in such a strange setting with strange everyday life, but the author did really well to make it seem normal. In fact, so much that after a couple days of reading this I started to constantly check myself of my thoughts because I felt uneasy that someone might be listening to them!
I hated the ending though, I absolutely hated it. Who would even call this a complete novel with a cliffhanger like that?

This is my second reading of this book.

The Knife of Never Letting Go moves at break-neck speed. You rarely want to put the book down because the characters are constantly on the move.

Patrick Ness' choices regarding the writing and spelling of the book may seem at first a huge risk, but it is a risk that pays off. Ness pulls it off by a deep understanding of his characters, namely Todd. Todd is the epitome of a "flawed but lovable" protagonist.

On top of a constantly captivating story, Ness still manages to comment on our own world with timely observations.

This was awesome! I’m a big fan, I love weird and creative and different and this was that all of that plus some humor added in for a bit of a bonus. Patrick Ness has such an interesting imagination, the way he can build big scary monsters that seem large and unrelenting but are really the ugly parts of us as humans. This has all the ugly parts of toxic masculinity, and of cult like religions.

It’s about settling in a new world that has a unique feature. The noise. All men, all animals have noise. It’s their inner thoughts and feelings spilling out of them constantly, it’s so loud. Oh and the women didn’t survive, all we know is the noise didn’t effect them the way it did the men. There is the main character who is the youngest of them, he was born of this plant and only knows what a girl is through other mens noise, until he finds one himself. It’s a survival story, he has a desire to keep her safe and he doesn’t know why, just knows he needs to keep her quiet alive.

This was one seriously entertaining read, I enjoyed all of it, not a second was a waste of story in my opinion, the writing was great and creative. The only complaint I had was the super human qualities of one man and the reasoning behind some actions I was a little unsure about... but when I read them, while having these feelings I also said, yeah, I don’t really care... it’s such a great read.

As a dreary scifi distopia, it is good, and buoyed by rafts of hope large enough to carry you through to the end. If this is your preferred genre, then you're in luck! It's possible I've just read too many of these lately. I'm not sure I can commit to another trilogy that has potential to have a completely dissatisfying end. If I choose not to continue, it won't be because the book wasn't good, but because of saturation.

This book, was just action after action after action. From the first chapter something interesting happened. Throughout this whole book, the story kept me interested, and kept me reading. This was a fantastic book. Patrick Ness executed the story wonderfully. The writing style in the book is so different from other books. Some people may not like it, but I think that that's what made this book so different and special. The world that this book is set in, is so different. The characters are so amazing. It's so hard to find the right words to describe how much I loved this book. There were several antagonists in the story, but one in particular made me angry everytime he came into the story. Aaron. He would not die. He needed to die. He was the worst character I have ever encountered in a book, but that's exactly what makes a good antagonist. The protagonist, Todd and Viola, were great. They were there for each other throughout the whole story. They never gave up, and they had hope. My favourite character was Manchee (obviously). This book had me laughing, crying, and cringing at different parts. My emotions were on a rollercoaster throughout the entire book. This was such an amazing book.I cannot wait to see what Patrick Ness has written in his next book, [b:The Ask and the Answer|6043849|The Ask and the Answer (Chaos Walking, #2)|Patrick Ness|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1233015899s/6043849.jpg|6219422].

I really liked the characters in this book. They were believable - what they were thinking and feeling was very real. However, the story itself got frustrating! The whole story was about the characters' journey, and at the end when they finally get to where they are going, the story just ends with "End of Book One". I felt a little cheated and tricked into having to read the second book now.

One of the sentences in this book was legit almost a whole page long (without any commas) and I honestly respect that a lot.

I really enjoyed The Knife of never Letting go. It was entertaining and really fast paced which I love. But I feel like I didn't care about Viola or Todd for the half of the book. I was just waiting to see what happened. Towards the end of the book I really started to connect with Todd and appreciate what he was fighting and running away from. The first half was hard to read because you don't understand anything and the author writes like you should know everything. but as it gets deeper in, you discover everything with him. Awesome!

This is a toughie (toughy?). I think my official rating has to wait until I see what happens in the next book in the series.
