Great concept for a story, liked the world building and the emphasis on the Tower & Seer as opposed to a witch in general. I was confused at times by the relationships between the characters and if they were genuine or not, but I think that was part of the point to confuse the reader’s loyalties. Overall I enjoyed the book and the strong personalities of all the characters. The FMC was fresh and surly and flawed which was a nice change!

  • Immature writing style
  • Characters felt like they were 12, not in late teens
  • No context around dislike main characters had for each other
  • Nothing happening in plot

Een zeer goed begin samen met een paar goed verborgen details die later gebruikt worden in het plot zorgen voor een aangenaam boek met een vrij abrupt en verwarrend einde. Een beetje spijtig, want ik had er net wat meer van verwacht.

This book has a beautiful cover and the fairy tale elements were cool, but the main relationships in this book just didn’t make sense. All the build up in their relationship happened “off screen” so I’m not even sure what drew them to one another, other than his green eyes. The world building was also vague. I’m not sure how the politics work and I have no real sense of how wide spread magic use even is. And what’s the deal with the fairies? And witches? Maybe these questions will be answered in the next book, but I don’t know when that will even come out. I don’t regret reading this one, but I wouldn’t put it high on your TBR.
