This book was so exciting and the kind of book I wish was available to read when I was a teenager. This book was really about a black girl, who is kind of wealthy just being the main character living wild, free and unapologetically herself. She is the girl everyone wants to be friends with but in order to be her friend and be amongst her inner circle you have to pass a series of challenging test. This was really a fun read about typical teen/romance cliches and trying hard not to be one or fall for one. Reading this as adult was refreshing and definitely made me laugh. I will say I wish X identity was never revealed because it wasn’t fun anymore but I guess that maybe was kind of the point?

I love reading an author’s debut and feeling their heart poured into it ! I could tell this was a labor of love from start to finish. I loved Ryan and Loli’s friendship. The whole ride or die concept the “destructive duo” or Bonnie and Clyde - the references could go on. It was a great book, mixed with mystery and first love and lifelong friendships and all the things that make up high school/teen life like prom and tests and skipping classes and driving your first car and getting grounded … gosh I could go on but basically it was just an all around solidly good YA book about a group of teenagers getting into trouble and navigating how to be good people for themselves and each other.

Enjoyed this YA book. Loli had flaws and was a bit selfish. I loved how each chapter was song/track themed!

I enjoyed this but I would’ve liked this more if Loli wasn’t so insufferable. That girl didn’t think about anyone but herself, literally totaled her best friend car on purpose and didn’t even apologize for it until it was too late. She really pissed me off, her total disregard for everyone who cares about her is just crazy to me. And I didn’t get why being in some sort of danger was so fun for her, there is a difference between being a thrill seeker and whatever the hell she was doing. I liked the way it was wrapped up at the end but I wished that her character was a little more likable 🤷🏾‍♀️
