A decently competent debut that unfortunately lacked a spark for me to get engaged with, won’t be continuing the series

Thanks to Fourth Wing, I’ve been looking for more adult fantasy books since I’m new to the genre.
I enjoyed this world and wasn’t expecting that ending! Thankfully book 2 is ready to go. I’m not sure if I could take waiting an entire year to read the next part. I think I will be looking for completed series from here on out.

Poorly written. The pacing is really weird. It feels very choppy going from scene to scene

It has been a long time since a book got me all emotional. I love Keera, Riven, Nikolai, and even Syrra–though I felt she was the least developed of the main characters. This is also one of the most adult relationships I’ve read in a book and it’s quiet refreshing. It is also a book about healing, which touched me very deeply. I couldn’t put this book down and I’m only sad that I have to wait till May for the next book.
