The writing was good. But story didn’t feel fleshed out. It was sporadic and uneven, without depth and substance. Unfortunately. Because premise was good. And writing was interesting and enticing.

I absolutely loved this!! So sweet, so steamy!! Everything I was hoping it would be. The audiobook was excellent! The narrators did a fantastic job with Val and Pyro! Their voices complimented the characters so well. SO. DAMN. GOOD. 🥹💖

I simply can't trust published smut, AO3 exists for a reason.

ugh

this is one of those books that tries its hand at a plot, doesn’t do it well, and i just wish they had written the sex scenes

there’s little to no world-building (and i get this is a second book and i didn’t read the first, so maybe that is a part of it idk)

it also had a few points that were just completely repetitive in terms of plot like the characters said the same thing over and over (consent is the most important thing!) - and there’s no need for that lmao, i have a memory, you don’t need to say it 10 times in like 5 chapters

there was a scene where the Cupid role-played as Santa… to the Santa?!

as much as the book was like “consent matters” the whole second half threw that out the window as Pyro decided he would not stop until Val was his lmao

one thing i did appreciate though is that many of the back characters weren’t gendered and there even was a semi important character at the beginning who used they/them pronouns

overall a lot of my personal pet peeves all in a row, paired with bleh writing, wouldn’t recommend (and i think I’m going to stop taking recommendations from tik tok)

Full Review (NO spoilers)
It was surprisingly character focused which is something I struggle to read with books it slows the pace down for me a little to much to keep my interest. This was one of the better books that I've read with a heavy focus on characters, it had a lot of tropes I like. The smut was just ok, wasn't the best and wasn't the worst. However the writing at times just didn't flow well fully and that made it a little bit harder to keep reading. It just felt a little choppy.

I liked the characters and conclusion and I would probably read another one of her books.

DNF at 42% - I found myself bored and the characters lacking. The steamy scenes were well done but weren’t enough to make me continue reading right now. Might come back to this in the future

Full disclaimer I as I have a concussion so my brain isn’t quite all there so if/when this review makes no sense that is why,

This book takes place before Dear Monster Claus and after but you don’t have to read that book prior to this one. This book follows Pyro and Valentine, a dragon and cupid, who both start out looking to have a fun time but then feelings happen.

Valentine doesn’t believe in love even after his sister found her soulmate but when he starts to fall for someone who he was just supposed to have platonic feelings and occasionally do it with he doesn’t know what to do. Pyro wants the role of Santa but he knows that can’t happen if he settles down with someone so he goes looking for someone to have some fun with for a while but eventually realizes maybe he wants that person forever.Valentine runs away after realizing his feelings damaging their relationship but when fate brings them back together with feelings unresolved, what can happen?

If you are looking for a fun valentine’s day read this is wonderful.
