I honestly had no idea what to expect from this. As this was my first experience with a graphic novel, I chose to check it against a storyline I already knew. Good or bad on the decision making scale, who knows. Anyway, I was incredibly surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did. It was a quick read, enjoyable, and I found myself appreciating the artistic license the author took. I am not speaking about the artwork, although I found that incredible, rather the narration. Being a fan of, and familiar with, film noir, this story was right up my alley. Plus, how do you not love Marv? Moving forward, I will certainly be reading each of the installments available in the series. I will also likely spread my wings and attempt more graphic novels.

The best work influenced by Alack Sinner I've read so far.

It's been a long time since I saw the movie and I didn't like it that much.

The art is quite striking. Lots of books come in black and white, but I haven't seen many like this. The contrast is great and the depth and detail achieved is really amazing. The story is alright, but it is a bloody revenge tale without a lot of imagination. The creativity here is really in the characters. The crooked priests, cannibal killers, goodhearted prostitutes, and psychiatricly challenged revenge seekers make the book rather than the action. The action is good, and I was rooting for the hero the whole time, but it's not a complicated plot.
