I just plain love Rick Riordan. These books are always so good. I love the representation. This is one of the very few books I've read with a gender fluid character - it may be the only, now that I think of it. I love the balance of action, serious stuff, and humor. I cannot wait to read Ship of the Dead - or rather listen to it. I love the narrator - he captures everything so perfectly. Also I will have to look into it, but was Annabeth referring to the events that happen in the Trials of Apollo series in the end of this book?

I read this to my 8 year old. I enjoyed the humor and I thought it was an interesting story. I'd happily read him more books in the series.

As always, another amazing book from Uncle Rick! \o/ No words needed, but the greatness from the previous Magnus Chase adventure has increased!

This book is laugh out loud funny to me. For the Audiobook, Kieren Culkin gets all the voices, inflections and tones just right.
Read the first, listen to the second. You'll be happier that way.

Better than the first one in the series, but I'm not sure if that's because I brushed up on my [b:Norse Mythology|30831912|Norse Mythology|Neil Gaiman|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1473864212s/30831912.jpg|51396954] a few weeks ago or if it's because I read this one and avoided the terrible audiobook narrator. Or if it's just plain better. :-p

At any rate, the story progressed nicely, and we got some good character development.

(4 1/2 stars actually)

Really felt the potential in the first book and this one really kicked it up a notch. Really enjoyed diving deeper into each character and the introduction of new ones like Alex! (Who I love). I appreciated in the first book how all the characters felt real and unique and that continued through to this book, no character was boring despite there being quite a lot. The plot was really interesting and I was hooked! So excited for the final book.

Last sentence

Great second book. The last sentence has me beyond pumped for the next book in the series. Going to be epic.
