Not going to lie, the cover is what lured me in. I like a second-chance romance just fine, but I was expecting more tension & slower build up, because the story begins with a quite abrupt parting of the two main characters that keeps them apart for several years.

The first fifty pages were good and I was interested to see how will Cole and Jasper get over the years they didn't see each other, but then the story falls apart. They meet again, there's some anger, but it quickly disappears within a few chapters (if not paragraphs) and they go from 'let's relive our missed years' to 'let's fuck' very fast.

And then there's a lot of cock-stirring, sex, blow me/you etc. and I was not into it. Their whole relationship and the feelings they have felt disjointed and I did not get where it all comes from. I understand they were best friends long time ago and they loved each other back then, but nothing is the same after years and years apart. And time apart like that won't leave scars or some hesitation, I don't know why this story exists like this in the first place. They could have had an argument when they were going to college and then get together the next week and it would read the same.

Finally, the last 100 pages or so were a slog to get through because they are either having sex, think about having sex or think how the other person is the best person in the world... And half the time I didn't know who is talking because Cole and Jasper sounded pretty much the same, just one is jobless art curator and the other is a librarian. The epilogue (as almost always in romances) added nothing to the story and I especially don't like when
you have a wedding epilogue and squeeze in another sex scene, they fuck, we get it...
.
Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the whole story, maybe if it was a novella, it would work, but as a whole novel, it's not that great.

My rating might be harsh, but I was thinking about DNFing this book since 50% mark onwards, so sorry not sorry.
