Week 49 Book 54
The Judge's List by John Grisham
Rating: 3/5

The Judge's List is about a serial killer who is brilliant and patient and so methodical that he has been committing murders for a quarter of a century and no one has a clue about him. Over the course of his life, anyone who has crossed him, deceived him, hurt or humiliated him in any way, has been added to his list, and in due course, met their gruesome end. He is a lawyer by profession and now a sitting a judge, and is knows the system so well, he is able to hoodwink it perfectly. All was fine and dandy until one victim's daughter decided to find out the truth!

I was very excited about Grisham's latest book. When I read the blurb, I was a little underwhelmed, but I dove into the book nevertheless. The story started off very slowly, picked up in the middle. Towards the end it seemed like it was going to be anti-climactic but somehow the ends were tied up at the finish line. Not the best read by Grisham, but worth one read I suppose.

Great sequel to the first book while I believe the first was better as a Legal thriller l, this book didn't come short

It’s rare I don’t love a Grisham novel, but this one landed flat for me. It felt like it lacked an editor: with forced/unnatural dialogue, repetitive content, side narratives that never resolved (though that could be from picking up the second book in the series without reading the first), and a climax that felt somewhat weak and unresolved. Not my favorite book of his, but still enough to keep me reading and mostly involved.

Could easily have been a 5 for me. Really enjoyed the story line...Definitely another great book by Mr. Grisham, but that's likely the reason it doesn't get the fifth star from me. He has simply set the bar too high for himself. Not fair... probably...

I just find it too slow and I don't have time for it now (took it because I never read crime books for my job as a bookseller and this one caught my eyes but it did not work well)

This one….I almost gave up. The premise is great and when it got going, it was really intriguing

The problem is how long it took to get going. I found the complainant’s drip feeding of the ‘evidence’ infuriating and it slowed down the whole setup for me.

When it got going, it was great. It just took too long to be enjoyable
