It’s not as fun as The Adventure Of Sherlock Holmes and as interesting as it might be to hear about Sherlock’s past the role of Watson is surely missed in those tales but ultimately even the ones he’s in can feel like retreads of previous mysteries and for the most part I wasn’t engrossed like I have been.
Yellow Face, The Greek Interpreter and the Naval Treaty were interesting but The Final Problem was far and away the best.

The stories are wonderful. I love it, but I hope everyone tries to read the Sherlock novels in order. It doesn't ruin the story line, but it does add a bit of confusion to the poor reader.

My son told me about reading free books on Sherlock Holmes on his Kindle. A classic but was challenging to read at night--couldn't remember the story line since it is a collection of murder mysteries!

It intrigues me that a lot of the examples of Holmes' eccentricities aren't introduced until this volume. Really, this seems to be the book that the popular image of Holmes comes from. It's very good! And I am always happy to see the way Holmes' relationships develop in each book. How wild that the author fully intended this to be the last volume -- I have never seen a more open avenue to a sequel.
