A super fun collection of short stories but really shows its age.

Lately I haven't been writing reviews, but felt compelled to write one for this book.

First of all - this is not typical "sci fi" as understood by modern readers. It's not Star Wars and it's certainly not Doctor Who. Rather, this is a series of vignettes about human nature - which, frankly, is more scary.

This novel originally started as a series of short stories. The stories, which are somewhat disjointed, explore human nature, often through a lens of tragedy. Colonization, racism, lack of respect for indigenous land and culture, grief and loneliness, and even retirement are on full display for the reader to examine, set in a surreal landscape of the Martian planet.

Even though this is not a thrilling space travel adventure, there is plenty to appreciate in this work, and certainly deserves its place on the classic literature shelf.

4.75/5 estrellas.

I loved Martian Chronicles when I first read it nearly 50 years ago.  It's aged much better than other science fiction of that era, and Bradbury's writing can still take your breath away, but somehow it didn't affect as much as it did when I was younger.
