I loved Vic and Renee. I loved how obsessed Vic was with watching the Nanny for the 5 families. I’m glad Vic finally got his story even if it was a novella.
I loved all the guys, it’s impossible not to especially Chase. He’s crazy AF but also know what he talks about and has a good heart.
I definitely can’t wait for Andrei’s story. There’s lots going on with him.

Envy is book nine and a half in the Eagle Elite series by the talented Rachel Van Dyken. I have read this entire series and it's one my all-time favorites. Yes, they are mafia. Yes, they kill people. I don't care. I love them and want them all for myself. We met Vic in Eulogy and I knew his story was going to be emotional and hot. How did I know? Well, Vic. With his quiet stares. His piercing eyes and his sexy, six-feet-four inches of deliciousness. Just like Renee, I wasn't once put off by his job. What he does for money isn't who he is. He's tortured and doesn’t think he will ever be able to have a normal life. Mafia enforcers only have one job. Protect at all costs. Until Renee, he never once thought about anything else. Something about her innocence and her brown eyes calls to him. But she's Nixon's nanny and off limits for other reasons. Can Vic keep his hands to himself? What happens when Renee won't take no for an answer? I loved this story! It was a novella, but it felt like a full length novel to me! I love every inch of Vic and Renee is perfect for him. We get to see all the guys again (YAY!), and I still have mad love for every one of them. This is a perfect addition to the series and I can't wait to see what's next. Overall, I laughed out loud, actually cried, had to fan myself and swooned!

"I think your taste is the only thing that could both save a sinner - and cause more sin."

"You're bad for me. I want you anyways."

"You're bad for me, I'll take you any way I can get."

This is a top read for me this year!!!

This book was actually my first mafia read and my first RVD book and all I can say is WOW...I am completely hooked and cannot wait to dive into the rest of this series. This book read great as a standalone but left me wanting to know more of the characters. It is told in Renee (the babysitter) and Vic's (the hired killer) POV. So much of this story had me on pins and needles not being able to read it fast enough. The author's words truly seem to just flow flawlessly.

Wow! If you are looking for an angsty mafia romance then this is it for you! This is my first time reading Rachel Van Dyken and I cant wait to read more. Vic is an enforcer and Renee is the nanny for a power mafia family. Think angsty violent Romeo and Juliet with a twist. There are some many twists in this book you may get whiplash. But at the heart of the book is a love story between a broken man and the woman that could give him a chance at joy! I have not read any of the other books in this series so this can be read as a standalone. But dont worry the rest of the series is now in my TBR pile!

🖋️ SNEAK PEEK REVIEW 🖋️
What a perfect novella to add to the Eagle Elite series! I had such a challenging time putting it down. The story of Vic Colezan and Renee Cassani was one filled with rules when it comes to the Mafia Family. Rules that will risk your life. Vic is mysterious and likes to keep to himself where as Renee like to follow orders to avoid getting killed. Although she enjoys taking care of the kids she is counting down the days where she can head back to school.

Little did she expected that her plans have changed and the person that is assigned to her is the one guy that scares her but also makes her feel the safest. This was another take of the characters in this family that will have you on the edge of your seat!

ARC Received for an honest review

I am a fan of these 1001 short stories - it gives us a glimpse into where some favourite characters are now, or gives us a story of characters that were only minor players in other books.

If you have read Rachel Van Dyken's Eagle Elite series (and if you haven't, you should!) you have met our main man Vic.

We know what Vic is capable of from previous stories, however we don't know Vic. He plays by the rules, no matter what it costs him.

Renee is sweet and adorable, however we soon come to learn who and what she is and how strong she can be.

My heart hurts for Vic as he sets about doing his "duty". I love the guys of Eagle Elite, but boy I really do kind of hate them in this at the same time. Expecially that Dick-son - oops, I meen Nixon.

I love the Vic and Renee go for what they want. And oh my do they steam up my kindle!

I love getting to see a little of all the family and the "families" in Envy. I have been invested in their lives for a lot of years now, and I always want to know more. And my Chase plays quite an important part in Envy woohoo!

This was a great little read, just enough to tide me over until we get more full length EE.

I can't wait to see what Ms Van Dyken brings me next.

It was interesting to get Vic's story, after having him play a role in Eulogy. It's always fun to get a novella about some of the more secondary characters, and keep us involved in the world that a series is set in.

I enjoyed this as I have with all the Eagle Elite mafia books, and I was glad to see these guys get a turn. Renee was a new character and I really liked her. There were some surprises in store for her mind you.

A great little novella, love this EE world.

ENVY is book 9.5 in the Eagle Elite series and part of the 1001 Dark Nights ongoing series. It can be read as a standalone. This was my first book in this series (shame on me!) but I had no problems jumping right into the story though I wish I had started with book one because I adored all of the characters!

Renee is a college student who is a nanny for the 5 mafia Families. Her father was deep in the mafia too but Renee tried to stay away from that life. Nothing is ever that easy with the Family however. Now, she has to be protected by the deadly assassin, Vic. He's a killer and a "monster" so why can't she stay away from him?

Vic is the enforcer, the protector for the Families. He took an oath to stay celibate so that he can be focused on his job but he can't stop thinking about Renee. Let me just say that I absolutely FLOVED this man! Talk about complicated! His feelings for Renee were totally inappropriate but incredibly sweet all the same. He had a complexity about him that fascinated me. On one hand, he KILLED PEOPLE for a living. On the other, he was so caring and loving and tooth achingly sweet with Renee. Swoon! And Renee was basically thrown into a situation that she knew nothing about. So what does she do? She adapts, she accepts. She was my favorite kind of character...strong as hell! On top of the wonderful main characters, RVD adds the characters from past books and it made me want to go back to the beginning.

An impossible, twisted situation became so much more for Renee and Vic and I loved every second of their journey. I'm not sure what kind of magic formula RVD uses to write these wickedly awesome stories but she definitely hit my hot spot with this one! Told from dual POVs with a happy ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
