I embarked on this journey without the slightest idea of what it would entail and found something much more exciting than expected. I thought this novel was brilliantly written: the audiobook version managed to capture some of its elegance. Also, the novel is beautifully detailed and well-researched, all of the main characters are real people from the time era!
Dodger is charming and lovely and endearing. The characters he meets along the way are also wonderfully written and the plot entertaining. Everything always ends up perfectly aligning with Dodger's interests, but Dodger is so honestly puzzled and pleased when it does that it doesn't seem cliché at all.

This was really fun. I didn’t realize there would be so many reference to real-life people, like Charles Dickens, and historical fictional characters, like Sweeney Todd. Dodger is a great character. I listened to the audiobook and I realized halfway through that I have no idea how it handled Pratchett’s signature footnotes. I hope they were read.

A thoroughly enjoyable book with many well known characters throughout. Will be reading more by Terry Pratchett now :)

Ah still those amazing lines.
“...the truth is a fog, in which one man sees the heavenly host and the other one sees a flying elephant.”
“Money makes people rich; it is a fallacy to think it makes them better, or even that it makes them worse. People are what they do, and what they leave behind.”
Set in London, this is not quite as fun as the Discworld Books, but it's still very much better than a lot of fantasy out there. Pratchett's writing and humour is still effortless.

Fun, clever book with guest appearances from characters that lovers of England will know (Charles Dickens, Sweeney Todd as well as a fleshed out lead Dodger) and some that I had never heard -- Ms. Couts and Mr. Mayhew, for example. This book covers the literal underbelly of London -- the sewers.
It's listed as YA in our public library, probably mostly due to the age of hero. I actually think an adult would enjoy this more, as there might be more understanding of the history and sly humor.
Highly recommended.

Adventuring in an under the streets of London with the charming Dodger was fun. I think I would have liked it even more if I'd read it as a teen, and have rated it accordingly.
