Finding the Black Orchid is the third book in the Brides of Scandal Series by Diana Bold.  Ethan Tremaine was running away from his past by going to far off places to search for a black orchid.  He was a renowned researcher who searched the world for new and different types of orchids.  His brother Jullian was getting married to Jane and wanted his brother to stand with him.  They had not talked for many years after their big misunderstanding.  Ethan’s best friend Christopher Hunter had drunk and gambled away everything including his sister Jessalynn’s dowry.  Jullian wrote to Eathan asking him to come home if not for him but for his friend Christopher who was very ill.  Ethan made the trip home to see Christopher who he found very ill and dying.  Being his best friend Christopher asked Ethan to marry his sister Lady Jessalynn Hunter who unfortunately had been compromised and was pregnant with another man's child.  Can Ethan become a good father and husband when he has so many ghosts that haunt him from his past?  He is certain that some awful fate will befall Jessalynn if he is involved in her life but he can’t turn away his friend and his request.  He also has to attend his brother's wedding and pretend that all is well.  Will Ethan’s ghosts be revealed and can he and Jessalynn become happy together.  I enjoyed this book and was happy with the ending, however I will give it a trigger warning as there is talk of suicide  in this story.

This book is the third in a trilogy of romance scandals. I gave this book 4 stars because it was much sadder and more tragic than the other books in the series. It was still a good romance novel, but there were a lot more suicides and a ton of deaths, not to mention unrequited love, that made things sad. Overall, it had a happy ending.
