This was just not what I wanted it to be. I've been a fan of the BBC series for ages, and read a few of the original stories too, so I was pretty excited. But this just did not work. In theory it's an excellent idea, but I feel like all the issues it set to cover were done very poorly. Jamie's character was the biggest problem for me I think. I didn't like the way he believed "understood" everything about Charlotte, because really it didn't seem like he did at all. He was pushy, and violent, and totally disregarded her trauma. I didn't get why she wanted to be his friend?? I don't know man. Pretty sad about this one.

This was a fun book to read. I love the Sherlock stories, and I love romance books so I thought this book would absolutely fantastic for me. And, to a point it was. Obviously loved the Sherlock retelling, and the little crushes they had on each other was cute, but this book made no sense being set in high school.
Frat parties, drugs, alcohol, labs? All in high school? Sophomores? This story would have made so much more sense if it were set in college, and the characters were older.
Of course a detective wouldn’t want 15 year olds helping, regardless of knowledge. A freshman playing bartender at an underground poker ring?
And they way Jamie’s fits of rage were portrayed, is obviously supposed to be appealing in a sense, but just picture a baby faced 15 year old punching a wall, not so appealing is it?
That’s my rant, good book but kept cringing because of the setting.
