The way that this book slowly unfurls from the story of a young girl fighting imaginary challenges to very, very real ones is masterfully crafted. I found a couple of the frames difficult to see what was going on, especially in the beginning, but I soon got used to the style and flow of the layout. Really enjoyed this book!

I love the story - Barbara is such a perfect little middle-school weirdo. And the art style is mesmerizing.

I love that I Kill Giants doesn't fit neatly into an age category, either. There are little things that would traditionally be "inappropriate" in a middle-grade novel, like Barbara's vulgar insults and the naked little sprites she sees.

The end is just a liiiiiittle too heavy-handed, but that's my only complaint.

Touching and accessible. It connected tenderly for this adult reader, and could easily translate the complexity of grief and the feeling of all the things we can't control, for many age groups.
