This book is comparable to the "The Two Towers" of the Lord of the rings series because it is kind of slow and is the middle where we are learning all this new information to then set up for the next book. I love this concept and is really what makes this story interesting. I keep wanting to know more about this universe and why the characters are where they are at. I look forward to the next one and then the 4th to finish off the series.

Kudos! Yet I can say that the first book is far more better.:)

This book was kind of a torment on its own. Don't get me wrong, there were good moments, but I have the feeling that "Fallen" could have been two books max... (mind that this is my first time reading the series).
There were so many illogical descriptions (like Luce's mother's "famous" Thanksgiving buns... Famous for whom? It's the first time they're mentioned. It's not like Luce spent 2 chapters describing them to Shelby or something..), clichés (Miles being interested in Luce. Why can't we leave a boy-girl friendship be just that?!) and just general BS (I spoiled myself some parts of the next books and so, from what I understood, no one can say too much to Luce about her past live(s) but for us as readers that's not clear enough as to why that is. It's just unnerving. I get Luce's frustration at Daniel. "Euuuh, sorry can't tell you"... Okay, hut I'm not okay with that. Like wtf, seriously. Just tell her "You'll be in danger if I say too much" and get over it. I get that we have to see Daniel as mysterious and so on, but it was just childish - all his behavior in this book. Gods... You can tell this gets on my nerves :D).

So, "Torment" gets three stars because I love angels, but the only cool part for me was the final chapter. I heard "Rapture" was great. So hopefully I'll get there...

Warning! Spoilers

I really enjoyed the book overall. But had some big issues with the main character, Lucinda.

I found the main character to be somewhat reckless and utterly dumb at times. I mean WTF?! If you knew you were in danger and you were told that you were in danger by your Fallen Angel boyfriend, WHY for the love of all that is holy, would you go on a Yacht and take trips to the mountains and Las Vegas. I mean, ya, sure, you wanted to find some info on past lives, but your also endangering your friends and causing massive problems with the Angels and you really didn't find out any pertinent information in the end.

Then! Wouldn't you be extremely paranoid about the fact that your roommate keeps mentioning all this creepy stuff about her Ex-Boyfriend who seems to have an obsession with you. Come On! Your in danger, your supposed to be hiding yourself and NOT causing attention to yourself, but you can't seem to help it because your so depressed and confused by your angel-boyfriend that you can't keep your head straight about a creepy obsessive Ex? A 17 year old cannot possible be that dumb! At least, I really really hope not.

Okay, my rant is over and I'm going to read the next book anyways out of shear curiosity and hoping that she will be less stupid....
