This will be one of my top favorites for the year. Viola Davis doesn’t have a fairytale story to share about her life. And she is who she is because of it. The whole point of this book, in addition to a raw and honest look at a woman’s life, is to remind us that we can’t overcome or escape our experiences,m. We don’t claw out from them. We embrace them as part of us, and we recognize we couldn’t be who we are without having been through our past. Viola is incredible, and her message is powerful.

“The purpose of life, is to live it”. Listening to Finding Me was an incredible experience. Take the 9 hours of time, you will not have a single regret and be left better for it.

I don't know why it took me so long to read/listen to this. I listened to this on my long drive home and loved it! It was well written and very inspiring. Hearing her backstory made me a bit emotional as nobody should have to go through what she went through, but I love how she didn't let that deter her from her dreams.  I really enjoyed this and would definitely recommend it, especially the Audiobook.

Full of heavy topics and incredible lessons, this was beautifully written. Loved the raw, deep dive into how “making it” is not always the key to happiness… but a healthy combination of boundaries, reflection and a journey to self love might get you pretty close.

Davis absolutely deserved the Grammy she was awarded for this.
